Offering prints for sale on Picfair Stores
All photographers are automatically set to have prints available on their stores.
If you wish to opt-out of prints. Please contact our support team who'll be happy to update your account for you. Picfair only offers the ability to opt-out of prints on an entire portfolio, not on an image-by-images basis. Offering this kind of fine control where photographers can opt in or out on an image by image basis is something we are looking at for the future.
The products and sizes which prints are available in can be found here: What types of print products are available: type, materials and size?
Print pricing
The price of a printed product will consist of the price a photographer has set for their image, plus the production and delivery costs (set by our print partner).
Picfair Plus subscribers also have the option to add an additional custom commission to print prices, which you can read about here.
The amount a photographer will receive for the sale of their image as a print will consist of the price set for the image, regardless of the size or type of product the customer has purchased, as well as any additional commission that the photographer has set for prints. It's not currently possible to set different prices for different products and sizes.
Why are print sizes showing as greyed-out or unavailable?
We restrict the size of printed products people can order to those where the dpi of the resulting image would be a minimum of 150dpi. Anything with a dpi less than this would result in a pixelated image that we don't feel would be of a high enough quality to show off images to the best extent.
If images are too small to meet our minimum 150dpi requirement, they will appear greyed out.
Uploading images with dimensions of 5000-6000px and above along the longest edge will open up all the print sizes we currently offer:
We also recommend sticking to the standard aspect ratios for photos, 3x2, 1x1, 4x3 which is the most common aspect ratio for images taken on phones:
Can photographers order samples or prints of their own images?
Photographers can order their own images as prints through Picfair. But these orders will be made and treated the same as any customer order, so they will also need to pay the licence cost and any additional commission set for the image.
You can find our Ultimate Guide to Prints featuring images and an unboxing of a set of example products ordered via our print partner here
If you'd still prefer to order your own sample, you can keep costs at a minimum by temporarily setting the licence price to the lowest possible (£1) just to buy a print at production cost, and then update your prices at a later date when you want to sell them to customers.
