Yes! On Picfair stores you can make albums public or private on an album-by-album basis.
Who can see albums on my store?
Public albums can be seen by anyone visiting your store. Private albums can only be accessed and viewed by visitors with the album URL and password.
How do I make an album private?
Every album on your store will include a ‘Make album private’ option in the Album details. This can be selected when you first make a new album, or it can be applied to an existing album at any time. Albums can be changed from public to private, or private to public at any time.
In your Library, you can see the private status of an album indicated by a ‘lock’ icon next to the album title.
What happens to images in private albums?
Images in private albums can only be seen by visitors to your store who have the URL and password for that album. Any image in a private album will not be visible in the ‘All Images’ view of your store.
In your Library, you can see which images are in a private album indicated by a ‘lock’ icon on the image thumbnail.
Please note:
- If you change an album from private to public, the images in that album will become visible in the ‘All Images’ view of your store
If images that are in a private album are ALSO added to a public album, you will be able to see those images in both albums, BUT NOT the ‘All Images; view of your store
How do I share a private album?
In your Library, any private album will include a unique URL and password.
Select ‘Share Album’ from the album menu to to copy the Album Link and Album Password. These can be shared with your customers using your preferred method.
When your customer visits the album link, they’ll be asked to enter the album password before being able to view the album and images.
Can I add a custom message to people visiting a private album?
Yes, you’ll find the option to include a custom message alongside the ‘Make album private’ option in the album menu.
Can I revoke access / change the password to an album?
Yes, you can reset the password to an album in the album details. This means the album remains private, and anyone with the previous password will no longer have access to the album and will need to new password to access the album and content.
Can I upload images directly to a private album?
Yes, you can find an option to create a new album directly from the upload page when adding the details to a batch of images you’re uploading.
You have the option to set the album to private before choosing to add images to that album, ensuring that the images you upload are immediately private and not visible on the ‘All Images’ view of your store.
