Picfair is a global platform with photographers based in countries all around the world. Each country has it's own unique tax regulations and Picfair is not able to advise on these individually.
How does Picfair handle tax on my images?
When an image is sold, we pay the full amount to the photographer, without any tax deducted. When it comes to tax, it is the responsibility of the photographer to make sure this is paid on their income from Picfair.
For UK residents who have registered for VAT and added their VAT number, the tax component of any sales will be itemised on their sales receipt.
For any photographer outside of the UK, the total shown on your sales receipt will be inclusive of any tax which you may need to declare and will not be individually itemised.
Can Picfair advise on whether I need to declare my sales?
How different income is taxed is something that can change considerably from country to country. In most cases, sellers typically do not have to disclose additional income from image sales as income generated through such means, will most likely not meet the threshold for extra taxing.
We always recommend double-checking with your local taxing authority where you are based on whether tax from sales is applicable.
